Bol’s 3650m of natural coastline is the main reason why its become one of Croatia’s top tourist destinations and it is truly a pebble-beach heaven.
There are three beaches to the east of the town centre, seven beaches to the west, including Zlatni Rat and several smaller beaches in the centre.
Or venture a little further away to find the area's hidden beaches and coves, many accessible only by sea.
Surrounded by crystal clear sea and shaded by pine trees, Zlatni Rat beach is a pure miracle of nature, with its famous horn shape and its tip that shifts with the changes in the tides, currents and wind.
Zlatni Rat is accessible from the town centre on foot along a tree-lined promenade, by road train or taxi boat. Adria Tours offers free parking at Zlatni Rat to all its guests or you can hire a scooter or a bicycle with a 10% discount.
Located halfway along the promenade, Borak and Mali Rat beaches offer the usual sunbathing and swimming facilities, but are also home to several watersport centres. Windsurfing, kiteboarding, diving, kayaking and stand-up paddling are all possible here.
Heading east from the catamaran pier in the centre of town, you will come to a restaurant called Ribarska Kućica, located on the rocky waterfront. Walk through the restaurant and you will find two picture-perfect beaches with the Dominican Monastery and its bell tower rising high above the beaches.
The two beaches are connected by a path up, over and down a rocky cliff that separates the two beaches.
To the east of the Dominican Monastery is Bol's last beach in a beautiful bay with stunning views of the monastery, the surrounding hillside and Hvar island.
At the far end of the beach, a lovely path along the rocks leads to a couple more clothing-optional coves.
Those who are more adventurous could end up seeing the sites beyond the popular tourist ones. By hiring a boat (with or without skipper) you could find those hidden coves and deserted beaches accessible only by sea - an exciting family adventure or a romantic getaway!
